Sarva Karma Samarpanam Shlok

Dedicate all your actions to divine and be a karma-yogi.

कायेन वाचा मनसेन्द्रियैर्वा
बुध्यात्मना वा प्रकृतेः स्वभावात्।
करोमि यद्यत् सकलं परस्मै
नारायणायेति समर्पयामि॥

Kāyena vācā manasendriyairvā
Buddhyātmanā vā prakṛteḥ svabhāvāt।
Karomi yadyat sakalaṁ parasmai
Nārāyaṇāyeti samarpayāmi॥

Whatever actions I perform with my body, speech, mind, senses, intellect, or due to my natural tendencies, I offer them all to Lord Narayana.

Let us understand the meaning of the shlok

  • Kāyena Vācā Manasendriyairvā: This phrase refers to offering every action performed by the body (kāya), speech (vāca), mind (manas), and senses (indriyas) to the divine. It recognizes that every aspect of our being is a tool for service to the divine.

  • Buddhyātmanā Vā: This means "through intellect and self-awareness." It implies that even our thoughts, intentions, and inner wisdom should be dedicated to God.

  • Prakṛteḥ Svabhāvāt: This phrase acknowledges that some actions arise naturally due to one's inherent tendencies and nature. Even these spontaneous actions are considered offerings when performed with a divine focus.

  • Nārāyaṇāyeti Samarpayāmi: This line is the essence of the shlok, expressing the intention to offer everything to Lord Narayana, one of the names of Vishnu, representing the supreme divinity.

This shlok is a powerful reminder of the principle of karma-yoga, the practice of dedicating all actions to the divine, freeing oneself from attachment and ego. It helps transform even mundane tasks into acts of devotion and service.

Three easy ways to integrate this shlok in your daily lives

  • Daily Actions as Offerings: As you go through your day, remind yourself that everything you do—whether it's working, speaking, or even thinking—can be an offering to the divine. This mindset helps bring a sense of purpose and humility to every task.

  • During Meditation or Prayer: At the end of your meditation or prayer, recite this shlok to consciously offer all your efforts, thoughts, and actions to the divine. This practice helps cultivate non-attachment and peace.

  • Action Step: Before starting your day, take a moment to recite this shlok and set an intention to offer all your actions to God. It can make even the simplest tasks feel sacred and meaningful.

Good to know…

This concept of offering every action to the divine is a core teaching of the Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna explains the path of karma-yoga to Arjuna. The idea is to perform your duties without attachment to the results, knowing that the outcome is in the hands of the divine. By dedicating all actions to Lord Narayana, you cultivate a sense of freedom from stress and anxiety, allowing you to live in harmony with the divine will.

Take a moment to reflect…

How would your daily life change if you viewed every action—big or small—as an offering to the divine?
